Sylvia Hoke Melton was born and raised in the Ozark's town of Lebanon, MO. She graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, PA with an Associated Degree in Visual Arts.
Through her life she has been privileged to be mentored and learn from some very accomplished artists such as William A. Phillips and Henry Koerner.
She was a member of the Gig Harbor Washington Peninsula Art League and enjoyed learning and knowing various watercolor artists during her time there.
She does freelance artwork focusing on her current passion of colored pencils and soft pastel mediums. Her work is largely derived from photos she takes and embellished from a lively imagination. She is at present, having fun with a newly developed character called Dr. Woo Hoo. She always enjoys doing pet portraits and animals.
She feels very blessed by the support of her loving family and special friends. Sylvia currently resides in Springfield, MO with her husband and daughter.
